Winter Blankets for the Homeless

‘Winter Blankets for the Homeless’ is a project to provide at least 1000 homeless individuals in Delhi/NCR with a blanket for the upcoming winter season.
Problem Statement
According to the Hindustan Times, over 10 people die every day in Delhi during the winter months as a direct result of low temperatures. This adds up to over 300 deaths during the winter season.
The statistic above is an official statistic, but it is suspected that there are many more whose deaths from freezing go unreported.
These numbers also tell nothing of the countless others who suffer from frostbite, or those who suffer sleepless nights simply because they are shivering from the cold.
Clusters of homeless people gathered around a small fire, families huddled together on the sidewalk, small children running around barefoot and sometimes topless in January temperatures: these are some of the realities facing us every winter season.
Goals and Objectives
We aim to provide 1,000 homeless individuals in Delhi/NCR with a blanket that will aid them in keeping warm this winter. While this may not provide the complete solution to keeping warm, having a thick blanket will drastically aid their chances of survival when sleeping outside in the winter months. It will also help prevent frostbite and other cold-related conditions.
We aim to provide those who sleep and live on the side of the road, often because they simply have nowhere else to go.
The cost of per blanket is Rs.150/- per item, so our target is to raise 1.5 Lakhs for this project. The blankets will be distributed by volunteers during the later stages of November and early December.
How can you help?
There are four ways you can do so.
1. Give financially towards the project.
2. Inform us if you have homeless people living in your area who could use the blankets.
3. Create awareness about the project by telling friends, colleagues and family members about the project and encouraging them to get involved.
4. Join us on various trips around the NCR to distribute the blankets to the Homeless.
