Focus Areas
- FIF Charitable Trust has two broad focus areas:
- Education and Training Program
- Social Development Program
FIF’s Education Program aims to provide those in need with access to quality education & training. Our initiatives cover various stages of academic development right from early childhood education to skill building for youth.
Pre-Primary Education:
Start Early is a pre-primary education project which provides early childhood care & education to underprivileged children with a goal of creating a comprehensive learning experience that is on par with other private schools. In June 2010 the first learning centre in Mumbai was established near Thane in partnership with REAP. Through this project, children are encouraged to develop school-going habits.
Vocational and Skill Building
Various surveys state that only 20-30% graduates passing out from India are employable. This especially holds true among youth from weaker sections of society.
The Ranjan Skill Building initiative is aimed at helping less privileged youth to learn critical skills like spoken English, basic computer knowledge, personal presentation, deportment, etc which are needed in order to find and retain gainful employment in the competitive environment of today. This program is currently conducted for over 150 youth at 4 Youth Resource Centres in New Delhi. The Ranjan Skill Building initiative is aimed at helping less privileged youth to learn critical skills like spoken English, basic computer knowledge, personal presentation, deportment, etc which are needed in order to find and retain gainful employment in the competitive environment of today. Social Development Program:
Through this program, we provide social uplift and assistance to improve the quality of life of the disadvantaged.
Equal Opportunity Program:
The EOP motivates thousands of underprivileged children to continue with their education by providing unforgettable experiences and equal opportunities for fun & learning. In partnership with concerned companies and individuals these outings & occasions also provide avenues for volunteering. Since September 2008 the EOP has provided a chance for 1,921 underprivileged children to benefit from these experiences by organizing 19 outings for children from slum areas, orphanages, hospitals & other institutions.
Relief and Rehabilitation Projects:
FIF strives to provide immediate relief and long term rehabilitation to victims of natural disasters.
Aila Cyclone Relief: On May 25th 2009, Aila cyclone hit the coast of West Bengal. Reports indicated that upwards of 2.3 million people were displaced by the storm as 175,000 homes were destroyed and 270,000 were damaged. At least 100 river embankments were breached by storm surge produced by the cyclone. At least 50,000 hectares of agricultural land was lost during the storm. At least 350,000 people were affected by Aila Cyclone.
